Are We All Victims of AI Psychosis?

If we had an out-of-print penny for every half-assed AI LinkedIn post we’ve seen this week we’d have enough money to buy Sam Altman a sense of style.

Society is losing its creative spark. You know it. I know it. And according to Pew research, most U.S. citizens agree.

Don’t get me wrong. We use AI selectively, and it has its use in the right hands. Data analysis? Sign me up. But for creative work, it’s mostly flat and generic. Just. Blah.

But outside of creativity, there are alarming situations impacting people. If you thought cable news was bad for your brain, cases of AI psychosis are becoming more common. And some young men are getting into “relationships” with bots instead of talking to young women.

Don’t they deserve better? Don’t we all? Are we all kinda getting AI psychosis without realizing?

The antidote, of course, is what humans do best. More relationships. More face to face time. Social skills. Creativity, collaboration, and the things that make people people. Go talk to a human FFS. Read a book. Paint a thing. Pick up a guitar and shred.

And while AI may be too effective to ignore altogether, our endeavor is to keep the human element up front and use AI for the boring shit. We agree wholly with something Casey’s wife said the other day: “I don’t want AI to write for me – I love creating things. Call me when it can do my laundry.”
